The story behind Vaquero BBQ Rub: 

1858, Santa Maria, California 

The roundup was a time for celebrations and the ranchero would host a Spanish-style BBQ for the Vaqueros and their families. Massive pits were lined with live oak and willow branches. Then tons of beef steaks, rubbed with this spicy seasoning, were grilled and served with chunky salsa and pinto beans. The Vaquero fiesta continued with dancing through the night.
