The story behind Aunt Lou’s Special Seasoning:
Aunt Lou, a freed slave from Tennessee, was considered the finest cook in the Dakota Black Hills. At her restaurant people came from miles around for a taste of her plum pudding and peach cobbler. but her perfectly seasoned fish, chicken, beef, pork and vegetables were unforgettable. When she was asked about her spices, she just smiled and said, “Oh, just a hand full of this and a handful of that.” We hear that this seasoning tastes so much like hers that we named it after this special lady.
